The following post was written from the perspective of our English teacher, Ms. Monica, who journeyed to the ocean with our group of students. She witnessed the magic first hand.
November 22nd was a day of discovery, laughter, and connection for the children, families, and staff of Hogar Miguel Magone. After a summer delay caused by heavy rains and road damage, the much-anticipated trip to the coast finally became a reality—and it was well worth the wait.
The day began early, with buses departing before dawn. Excitement buzzed as children, wearing their specially made T-shirts, filled the seats. For many, this was their first journey to the ocean, a chance to step outside of the everyday and experience something completely new.
Their destination, AquaMagic, offered plenty of opportunities for fun. The younger children splashed in shallow pools, while the older ones headed straight for the slides, testing their courage and laughing all the way down. The wave pool became a meeting place for everyone, with shouts of delight echoing through the air as waves rolled in.
The highlight for many came when it was time to head to the beach. With the sun shining and the ocean calm, the group walked down to the shore. The reactions varied—some ran eagerly into the waves, while others stood back, watching and taking it all in. A few collected seashells, tiny treasures to take home as a memory of the day. Others marveled at the sight of small crabs skittering across the sand.
Even those hesitant about the sand or the saltwater found themselves drawn to the beauty of the moment. For a little over an hour, the group played, explored, and soaked in the wonder of the sea, creating memories that would stay with them long after the journey back home.
Lunch was another highlight, with everyone enjoying fried chicken or hamburgers, followed by ice cream for dessert. After a brief rest, the children returned to the pools for a final splash before it was time to leave.
The trip was more than just a fun day out; it was a moment of shared joy, connection, and celebration. The children, staff, and families of Hogar Miguel Magone came together to create something unforgettable—a day filled with laughter, curiosity, and endless smiles.
To everyone who played a role in making this day happen, thank you. Your support helped create a space for the children to explore, connect, and simply enjoy being kids. This day at the beach wasn’t just about seeing the ocean for the first time—it was about being present, experiencing something new, and celebrating together.
It’s days like this that remind us of the incredible things that happen when we come together as a community. Here's to more moments of joy, discovery, and connection in the future!
